Our Promise to You
We want you to feel confident trying Porchlight. We offer:
- 7-day free trial on Premium and Family Care plans (first weekly digest lands inside the trial)
- 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of your first paid purchase
- "Won't wear it in month one? Full refund" — if the parent decides they don't want to wear their Apple Watch or use the app, we will support a full refund even if you're past the standard 30 days (up to 60 days from purchase)
We stand behind the product and the dignity-first approach.
How Refunds Work
1. Within the 7-Day Free Trial
- Cancel anytime in App Store settings before the trial ends.
- You will not be charged.
- No questions asked.
2. Within 30 Days of First Paid Purchase (Standard Promise)
- Contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] with your Apple ID (or the email associated with your purchase).
- Tell us you'd like a refund (you do not need to give a reason).
- We will initiate the refund through Apple's App Store system.
- Apple typically processes refunds within a few business days to 2 weeks (varies by region and payment method).
- You will receive an email from Apple confirming the refund.
3. "Won't Wear It" Extended Window (Up to 60 Days)
If the parent simply doesn't want to wear the watch or continue with Porchlight:
- Email [SUPPORT EMAIL] within 60 days of your first paid purchase.
- Say "won't wear it" or similar.
- We will process a full refund via Apple.
- This is our way of saying we only want paying customers who find real value.
4. After 30–60 Days
- Refunds are at our discretion.
- We may offer a pro-rated refund or credit toward future months if you have a specific issue we can address.
- Contact support — we're reasonable people.
How to Cancel Your Subscription
1. Open the App Store app on your iPhone (or Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on iOS 18+).
2. Find Porchlight.
3. Tap Cancel Subscription.
4. Confirm.
Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again.
You can also cancel from within the Porchlight app under Settings → Subscription → Manage in App Store (this deep-links to the same place).
What Happens When You Cancel or Get a Refund
- You keep access until the end of the paid period.
- After cancellation or refund, your account reverts to the Free tier.
- Your historical trends and digests remain available to you (on-device where possible).
- Family sharing you initiated will stop working for family members (they lose access to your summaries).
- We do not delete your account or data upon cancellation — only upon explicit "Delete Account" request in Settings.
Apple Billing Governs
All purchases, trials, renewals, and refunds for the iOS/watchOS apps are processed by Apple through the App Store. Porchlight does not directly charge your credit card or store payment methods.
- Apple's refund policies and timelines apply.
- If Apple denies a refund request, we may still choose to honor our 30-day / "won't wear it" promise by other means (e.g., extending your subscription or issuing a credit), but we cannot override Apple's billing system.
- For website waitlist or future web-based purchases (if any), different terms may apply and will be clearly disclosed at checkout.
Questions or Issues?
We're here to help. Email [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we'll respond within 1–2 business days (usually faster).
Common issues we can help with:
- Trouble finding the subscription in App Store
- Refund not showing up after we initiated it
- Questions about the "won't wear it" policy
- Family plan billing questions
Draft note to attorney: The 30-day and "won't wear it" promises are customer-friendly marketing commitments. Ensure they are drafted to be enforceable and do not create unintended legal obligations (e.g., "satisfaction guaranteed" language can sometimes be interpreted broadly). Tie them clearly to Apple's refund mechanics where possible. Consider whether the extended 60-day window should be limited to first-time purchasers only.
