What This Notice Covers
This notice explains what cookies and tracking technologies Porchlight uses on our website (getbaseline.app and subpages) and in our mobile apps. It is intentionally short and honest.
On Our Website (Marketing Site)
We use only the following:
Essential / Strictly Necessary
- Session cookies or similar mechanisms required for the site to function (e.g., remembering your waitlist form progress, security tokens). These cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
Privacy-Respecting Analytics (Optional but Recommended)
- Vercel Analytics or Plausible Analytics (we will choose one privacy-first provider).
- These tools collect anonymous page view, referrer, and device-type data.
- No cookies are set for tracking in many configurations.
- No personal data, no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, no selling of data.
- We use this data only to understand which pages are helpful and where people get stuck so we can improve the site.
What We Do NOT Use on the Website
- No Google Analytics (or any Google tracking)
- No Meta/Facebook Pixel or any ad pixels
- No remarketing or behavioral advertising cookies
- No third-party social media tracking buttons that phone home
- No fingerprinting or persistent identifiers beyond what is strictly necessary
In the Porchlight Mobile Apps (iPhone + Watch)
The apps do not use cookies in the traditional web sense.
What the apps do collect for operational purposes:
- Standard Apple crash and performance diagnostics (via Xcode / Apple’s systems)
- Anonymous feature usage events (e.g., "user opened dashboard", "family invite sent") — these stay within our analytics pipeline and contain no health data
- Subscription state from StoreKit (required to show the correct paywall)
None of this information is used for advertising. None of it is sold. None of it leaves our controlled processors except as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your Choices
Website
- Most modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the waitlist form or other interactive features from working.
- You can opt out of our chosen analytics provider by visiting their opt-out page (we will link it in the footer once selected) or by using browser extensions that block analytics scripts.
Mobile Apps
- You can limit analytics and crash reporting in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- You can reset advertising identifier (though we do not use it).
- Deleting the app removes all local data.
Updates to This Notice
We may update this notice if we change analytics providers or add essential features. Any material change will be posted here with a new effective date. Because we use so little tracking, material changes are unlikely.
Questions?
Email [SUPPORT EMAIL] with "Cookies / Tracking" in the subject.
Draft note: This notice is deliberately minimal because Porchlight's tracking footprint is intentionally tiny. It supports the "privacy is architecture, not a page" principle. Once the final analytics provider is chosen (Vercel vs Plausible), update the specific name and any opt-out link. Keep this page linked from the website footer and from the in-app Legal section.
